Jean-Michel Masson is Professor at the INSA of Toulouse (France) since 1988.

 

He has also directed for twenty years a research team focusing on protein engineering within the frame of the Pharmacology and Structural Biology Institute of CNRS.

 

Prof. Masson is a recognized expert in protein engineering. He received the Henri Labbé award from the French Academy of Sciences for his work in this field. He directed more than 15 PhDs and published more than 80 papers concerning protein engineering, especially focusing on bacterial and yeast genes.

 

For years, he represented France within the IUPAC (International Union for Fine and Applied Chemistry). He was also a member of the working group 'Applied Molecular Genetics' of the European Federation of Biotechnology. Jean-Michel Masson has frequently been appointed as advisor for the French Ministry of Industry to evaluate industrial projects. His academic laboratory was involved in several industrial collaborations, such as investigation on enzyme stability in partnership with industrial companies. His work has resulted in the filing of numerous patents.
