Business History And Overview

Protéus was founded in 1998 to discover, engineer and manufacture new proteins for a variety of life sciences and chemical industry markets and customers. The first years of the Company saw the development of proprietary R&D assets underpinning the Company’s capabilities in protein discovery, engineering and manufacturing.

Protéus uses its proprietary bioengineering technologies, microbial biodiversity and manufacturing capabilities to deliver commercially targeted proteins and protein-based products and processes. Since its inception in 1998, the Company has gained much experience in applying its capabilities, typically in an integrated fashion, to specific life sciences and industrial objectives for clients that are world leaders such as Evonik (Degussa), Henkel, Thales, Veolia Environment and other multinational key players in different industrial domains including chemistry, flavors and fragrances…

The company currently operates out of a state-of-the-art, custom-built facility completed in 2002, which hosts the Company's laboratories and administrative headquarters in Nîmes, France. Two thirds of Protéus 40-people staff are PhDs or engineers. This highly skilled and experienced team integrates complementary expertise in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, fermentation and process development to insure seamless R&D and manufacture of new proteins and bioproducts.

Since 2010 of September, Protéus has become a subsidiary of PCAS, a fine and specialty chemicals group listed on the NYSE Euronext (ticker: PCA). This integration enables Protéus to accelerate its development as it provides PCASthe Company with an access to industrial capabilities and expertise. Proteus can now support its clients further along into the industrial development of their projects. The Company shares with the PCAS Group and all its clients and partners an ambition for excellence and a common demand for safety, quality, competitiveness, innovation and sustainability.
