On June 26th, 2008, Protéus has held an exceptional event to celebrate « 10 years of innovation with proteins ». Nearly 180 persons from France, Europe and even from the US, were gathered in Nîmes for a blend of conferences, networking and partying in a splendid summer weather. The meeting which was designed to be equally informative, prospective and festive, was a genuine success.

Protéus had invited top-range scientists to emphasise the diverse and ubiquitous roles of proteins in industry. The panel was representative of the four key domains that benefit from Protéus solutions : healthcare, chemistry, energy and environment.

Two exceptional speakers (Alfredo Aguilar Romanillos, head of the biotechnology unit of the research and technology directorate of the European Commission, and Yves Chauvin, Nobel Prize 2005 in chemistry) contributed to the success of the event...

On popular demand, Protéus has now added insect cell expression services to its protein expression offering.
Insect cells, which are used with the baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS), have many advantages for the expression of eukaryotic proteins. First, they have extended processing (including glycosylation) and folding capabilities which makes them suitable for the production of complex eukaryotic proteins. The system also provide high expression yields and is considerably more cost-effective and rapid than mammalian cell expression.
Finally, the baculovirus is non-pathogenic for man and it has been FDA-approved for cGMP manufacturing. Vaccines that have been produced in the baculovirus system are already on the market or in late development.
